Lan Torell, Day 1, 2141) ==================== (Alien Station, Ambassador Joanne Turner, Day 1, 2031) After asking Ensign Maddox what he wanted to do next, Jo noticed that he seemed to be surprised that she had done so. He did a quick look around, so perhaps he simply had not expected to be left in command of one of the teams. Once he had recovered, he began by explaining what they should do, but ending by saying they could not, as the structure of the interior walls of the station were hindering comm calls and tricorder scans. "Do you have an alternate plan?" said Jo. "Well, I was thinking either we can try and find a way to boost our signal, or maybe even find a way around the reflective properties of the metals or alloys they use. I think we should avoid re-inventing the wheel and find a way to adapt to and use their systems clandestinely," said Maddox. "By all means, Mister Maddox," said Jo. ~Knock yourself out,~ she thought, not really understanding what he wanted to do. Maddox then explained exactly what he wanted to do. It was a good idea, but it would mean their team would remain where they were. That wasn't what she had signed on this mission to do. "You're the science officer," said Jo. "Have at it." "Very well. Gentlemen, if you keep the perimeter up, I will get to work and see what I come up with." He set to work drilling a hole in the bulkhead. Jo sighed softly and took a few steps away and looked down the corridor. She had a feeling this was going to take some time. As an ambassador, she was a very patient person, but she was also a woman of action. She could probably slip away and Maddox wouldn't notice. James and Allen certainly, would and they'd most likely stop her. She glanced back at them. James nodded. Jo smiled. Jo started pacing, slowly, and intentionally, moving further down the corridor.... "Ma'am, you really shouldn't be going off on your own," said James. Jo stopped and looked at him. "I suppose I shouldn't. That's why you're coming with me." "Ma'am?" "Mister James. I can't just stand here and do nothing. What good would I be to this mission? I'm here to help get our people back. I've got to try doing that." "I understand, Ambassador," said James, "but sometimes, plans change. I'm sure you know that." Jo did know that, but it didn't help. It had gotten to the point where she had made up her mind. "Short of stunning me or physically restraining me, I'm going to search for our people. The question is, are you coming with me?" James looked at Allen. Allen shrugged his shoulders. "You're putting us into a difficult situation," said James. "Difficult situations are my specialty." Jo smiled. "Are you coming?" James sighed and looked at Allen again. "I'll hold the fort," said Allen. "Besides, what will Commander Sanok do to us if we let her go and something happens to her?" "Or what would he do for us letting her go in the first place?" said James. "It's your call, Mike. She likes you better," said Allen with a smile. Jo chuckled at that. "All right, Ambassador," said James. "Let's go, but I'm the Sec/Tac guy, so you follow my lead. Got it? Ma'am." "Of course, Mister James." Jo gestured with her arm for him to take the lead. Finally. She was getting to do something. (reply none) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 2038) The loneliness and boredom of a cell could weight heavily on people. But on Aenar, there was barely anything that was as enjoyable. The capacity to meditate or reflect on the journey had always been at the center of the Aenar culture and philosophy. Reflecting upon his past, there had been so many things happening. Since the genocide of his people, he had never really been in peace. The survivor instinct had taken over. Things had gone so fast. How surprising it was, when thinking about it, for him to have joined the Maquis. They had such a different and hostile way of living. But he still recalled how angry after the genocide. No one could have told he was Aenar...in such situation, the Andorians emotions had been way stronger, and he had been driven by those very strong impulse. All he wanted was to avenge his people. Several years now since the attack on Andor, and he had barely started to accept it and start living again. But it was in a situation like this that you could avoid facing yourself. Who was he now? What did he believe in? Was vengeance still the solution? Here in the cell, he has had no anger, no desire to fight. That was an unbelievable improvement. But was it the way? Was peace the solution? He still had very good memory of what his mother used to teach him. What it meant to be pacifist. How impulsion is a force that can blind judgment. The Aenar were similar to Vulcan from many side, with the exception they were not fighting their opposite nature; they were truly pacifist, since the beginning. It was so easy to be in peace, with everyone, with one-self. Peace, it has been so long since he had tasted it that he wasn't sure he knew how it tasted anymore. But he wanted to go back that path. It started with showing no aggression, not even to your enemies. But his superior were asking of him the contrary. They were going to escape, and force their way through the station. Tho'var wondered if accepting to do such things would not dig him further down the violent path. The memory of his father flashed in his mind. He remembered very well the long stay with the Andorian with his father. He was seduced at that time by them, by how they were a loving and passionate people. They were always eager....eager to help....eager to avenge....eager.... They were always driven to do things. Never where they postponing things. Things needed to be done and quickly. He still remembered how his father was used to tell his mother to hurry....that she was taking too long to decide ; and how much is mother was telling his father that he was acting without thinking it through. The Andorian and Aenar were such different, and still, they were two different evolution of the same ancestor. They were both Tho'var heritage. He loved to draw strength from both. However, he really did not see how could their opposite cultures and values be of help now. They were rather in opposition here, and soon Tho'var would have to chose one over the other. But he still did not knew which choice he was going to make. He had still no idea who this specie was. Could they be talked into peace? He knew so little about them, how could he knew what to expect from them. (Reply No one) (Posted by Nick) ----- (Alien Station - Lt . Torell explained how he had been taken over by a malevolent force and then used as an instrument of sabotage until he was stunned by his crew. He explained how the Hikani despised all telepaths, at some time in their past that had worked with telepaths who had taken advantage of them. From that day on they had set out on a mission of revenge, they wanted to punish all telepaths so that they wouldn't try to take advantage of anyone else. The Federation contained many races with telepathic abilities in one form or other as then there were unfriendly species who possessed telepathic skills. "As you see, Captain, we are in danger. We need to stop the Hikani at all costs." Ben tapped his combadge. "Soma to Bridge." He said. Seconds later he received a reply. "Set a course for the wormhole." He instructed. "Were going in." Ben turned back to Torell. "Lieutenant do you feel well enough to be released?" Ben asked. If Torell was himself once again Ben didn't want to keep him confined, he may prove useful and with so many of his senior officers on the station he could use every able body he had. (reply Torell) "If you feel it's necessary I'll assign a security detail for you." Ben stated. "You know more about the Hikani than we do, your knowledge may prove to be invaluable Lieutenant." (reply Torell) Ben turned to Hudson. "Lower the forcefield." He said, once it flickered out he added. "Keep our guest company." (reply Hudson) With that dealt with Ben turned to leave the brig for the bridge. "Gentlemen with me." He said as he headed out. (posted by Milo) ----- (Alien Station - Lt. Tom asked. "What we need is a Viridium patch or something similar. Let me think...I could remove one of the tricoders isotope modules. We can scan for its radiation signiture using another tricorder." Said Matrix. Matrix continued, "Doc...this may sound a bit unorthodox, but just in case you're captured and they remove your uniform it would work best if you were to swallow the module. It's not very big, but that would leave little chance you and it would get separated. You would know best, but I don't believe the radiation it emits would pose any health effects." (Reply Andersen, any) "I'm sure we can get it out later once the mission is over, beaming would be the easiest and that could be accomplished when we get back to the ship. (Reply Andersen, any) "Steve and Andrew is it possible to report to the Rise using our vessels ad relays?" he asked. "I don't think so at this distance. This ship is emitting some sort of energy field which is limiting our scans. I don't know if we could get a comm signal out of here, but its worth a short." Replied Matrix. (Reply Andrew, any) Matrix took one of the tricorders and preceded to disassemble it down to its components. He took a spot near a well and sat down on the floor with a tricorder and tool set in front of him. Within a few minutes he had successfully removed the three isotope modules from the unit. He did his best to trim the leads off each to smooth any jagged edges or anything that could get caught in a human tissue. The last thing he wanted was to have the doctor injured. He chose to work on the alpha isotope module which was the smallest of the three. It was about the size of a lima bean and could easily be swallowed. After a few more minutes he has the module cleaned and removed of any protruding objects. Matrix put the remaining pieces of the tricorder back together and walked over to the doctor. Smiling, "Okay Ailyn, just what the doctor ordered." As he held up module for inspection. "Course laid in Captain." He stated. "Take us in." Ben replied. The image of the wormhole began to slowly grow larger on the viewscreen, they didn't have much information on the station so Ben wanted to play this one safe. Thumbing the comline open he contacted engineering. "Bridge to Engineering." He began. "Bring the spiral drive online and engage the cloak." =/\= Aye Sir.=/\= Came the reply. Hopefully the Hikani would be unable to detect a cloaked vessel, Ben wanted as much information as he could before announcing their presence to the stations inhabitants. Glancing around the bridge he spotted their new ACSO. "Mister C'nell." He said. "Once we've cleared the wormhole began scanning the station, passive sensors only." (reply C'nell) "I want what ever information you can provide on that station, armaments, defensive capabilities, layout, and hopefully the location of our people." Ben said. This was expected, though Men Olarid, First Pregus of the Holy Crusade for Freedom, was unable to understand how so many different races had become one clan. It was almost obscene. It was no wonder they had accepted mind rippers as part of their own. Out of curiosity, as much as security, Olarid had ordered the vessels to be probed. In retrospect, he should have had been blasted out of space the moment they had arrived. Instead of seeing the two vessels, they had both disappeared. One of them had distracted him by trying to communicate. These aliens were crafty. His group had been searching for the missing vessels, but there were still so few of them on board, and the technology of the station was still mostly a mystery to them. Nonetheless, they were a resourceful race; they had proven that by defeating the mind-ripping Lukorins, so Olarid was confident the aliens would be found. "Scan completed in section 283, First Pregus. Moving to 284." It was only a matter of time. Matrix continued "Doc...this may sound a bit unorthodox, but just in case you're captured and they remove your uniform it would work best if you were to swallow the module. It's not very big, but that would leave little chance you and it would get separated. You would know best, but I don't believe the radiation it emits would pose any health effects." he explained "I agree. I do not think they pose any risks for as long as their encasing capsule isn't damaged. Undoubtebly, I will be searched but perhaps they do find it. In any case, I'll keep it in mind, sir." she explained, nodding her head in agreement. "I'm sure we can get it out later once the mission is over, beaming would be the easiest and that could be accomplished when we get back to the ship. These modules are encased in titanium and won't dissolve or corrode." said Matrix. But Ailyn knew it doesn't pose any real risk. And if just put her current mind and thoughts into a stream of memories, she could remember worse situations like this. A stroke of luck - or perhaps something that even herself didn't understand, she would always live through it. She just hoped her luck doesn't run it today. "I'm not worried, sir." she explained. Smiling innocently. It took Matrix couple of minutes to disassemble the tricorder and remove it's isotope module, pulling it out, he proceeded to clean the module, assembling the tricorder back. Walking to the doctor, smiling, he said "Okay Ailyn, just what the doctor ordered." as he held up the module in his hand. Ailyn chuckled. Never would she think she'd find herself in a situation like this. Positive thing was, she was really good at running if her or someone else's life was in question. In her head, this was kind of an atypical bait and switch method. Smiling dumbly to her own thoughts - she was the bait. Taking the module, in her hand, she sat down on the floor, with her legs crossed, and removed a piece of what appeared to be a small box. Putting it to the floor beside her, she opened it in quick fashion, pulling an microlaser cutter - a part of the emergency doctor's gear she would often carry with herself - the unit itself was outdated, but as it was classified as medic instrument, she could still keep it. She used the cutter on her own uniform, unbuttoning the first button on her starfleet issue shirt, and then cutting a small incision inside the fabric - the double stitched part around the neck. It only took a second, and she had a tight opening fitting the module inside. She seemed very proficient using the cutter - as if she had past experiences. The module was a snug fit, tight enough so it wouldn't fall out no matter how fast she would run, but easily pulled out in case she needed to do it. Packing her small box, and putting it right on her belt where it was, she stood up. "There, it is done." she explained. "Sirs, is there anything else that you need me to do?" she asked, looking at Jackson and Matrix, obviously thinking they probably have some kind of a message planned for either the USS Tesla commanding officer, or even Thovar and Sanok. She didn't know what's going to happen, but she knew one thing... She had no room for failing this time. First Pregus Men Olarid looked up from his work. "On screen." When the portal appeared on the main screen, Olarid stared at it with a slight smile on his face. It was quite an accomplishment for his people. Their first contact with a race from another planet had resulted in disaster, but his people had managed to prevail over the evil brought upon them. Now, they ruled over their former oppressors, using their knowledge and technology to advance their own by a hundred years. For the Hikani, it was a new age of learning and expansion, though before they could do that to its fullest, they first had to remove the blight of the mind ripper, a plague of vileness that was a threat to any civilized race. "I don't see anything," said Olarid. "Neither do I, First Pregus, but based on what we have seen in the past, something is there." "Invisibility?" said Olarid, thinking aloud. What new trickery was this? "Use the wide setting for the ship scanner." "Yes, First Pregus." The main control room was quiet while the crew looked for whatever was out there. "First Pregus, we haven't found an exact location yet, but it is something large." "The main ship from this new group of races?" "Most likely." "Ready all beam weapon batteries. Focus any that can be aimed in that direction. If something appears, fire on it immediately." "As you order, First Pregus." It was bad enough this new group allied with mind rippers. Now, they were using obvious and outright deceit. If they truly were peaceful explorers as the others had claimed, they wouldn't be using tricks to board the station or come through the portal. Exploring space and encountering new races, was turning out to be more dangerous than any of his people had ever thought. (reply none) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Alien Station - Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen ACMO Day 1 - 2056) Ailyn caught a glimpse of a smile on Jackson's face. Could it mean the man thought the plan would work? Lt. Commander Matrix did an excellent job with the tricorder module, and Ailyn was sure that part of the plan would work, but would the alien patrols take the bait? "Ailyn, we will follow you just as closely as we can. I want to make sure you understand the risk involved". he explained. "Roger that." she said nodding her head. Then started putting down her phaser and tricorder to the floor near where she already put her bag as well. Trying to get rid of the parts of the EV suit, she continued "I understand the risks, sir. I also understand that if we do not bring our first officer and our assistant chief engineer, the whole trip we did was next to nothing. This is a small risk, with a high gain, sir." she explained while looking at Tom. She loved to bet. That was a true fact. The whole betting thing was behind her. Ailyn was a firm believer anyone have that little Ferengi inside themselves that just want to get out and make a profit. It would always be like that with her as well, she was sure every time was a win. Most of the times she was wrong. Regardless, there was something in betting - making a risk and knowing there's a possibility of a very high gain in turn that really made Ailyn feel that rush she haven't felt for ages. And it felt good. "The Doc will pretend to be injured while escaping. I would be surprised if the 'bad guys' would accept her simply walking a round" Tom paused for a second. (Reply: Any present) Ailyn made a face. She obviously didn't think about this part. However she had an idea. She really needed the hypo from the other bag. If she would administer herself with a certain drug, this would make her lump on the leg she would administer the drug into. Moreover, she removed the small piece of fabric on her ponytail and messed her hair with both of her hands. Doing this for about fifteen seconds made her hair a frill looking piece of mess. Just what she needed. Didn't look pretty but looked convincing enough. Her eyes didn't need any kind of treatment whatsoever - the red eyes and bags underneath were visible from her lack of sleep and all more then helped with the look. Then Jackson took a chance to issue orders to the team. (Reply: Any iyw) (Posted by: Lani) ----- (Alien Station, FO/CSec Lieutenant Commander Sanok, Day 1, 2057) Sanok had done what he could to aid Kevras. Now, as the engineer rested on one of the cots, Sanok began to slowly pace around their cell. Normally patient, he was beginning to lose that patience. He had told Kevras they were going to make a move when their captors came back. Sanok reconsidered doing that with Kevras affected so badly by the mind probe. Still, because Kevras was affected, it was probable that he needed medical care. Since Sanok was FO, he was responsible for Kevras' safety. It seemed he had little choice what to do next. Moving back to the center of the room to check on Kevras, Sanok stopped when he heard the familiar click. Almost running, he moved next to where the door would be, pressing himself against the wall. He waited to spring into action. The door slid open and a guard stepped inside, then another. In seconds, the first was on the floor after a nerve pinch. The second was in a choke hold, his weapon now in Sanok's hand. He faced the open door, where two other guards and one of the taller robed aliens were standing with shocked expressions on their faces. Sanok had no desire to kill. If there was a way around it, as a Vulcan and as a Starfleet officer, he was duty-bound to do it. However, there were circumstances where killing an adversary was the only option available. Not knowing what the alien weapons were or what their affects would be, he fired. A red beam shot out, striking one of the guards. He pressed the trigger again and hit the other guard. Both crashed to the metal floor, unmoving. While training the weapon on the last alien, he listened for any signs of life from the guards. He could hear them breathing. At least they were alive. "For your sake," said Sanok, "I hope you have a language translator with you." The robed alien stared at Sanok. It seemed he didn't know what to do. In case the security protocols of the station could detect internal weapons fire, Sanok could not waste time. "Do you have a language translator? This is your last chance." The robed alien did not move, so Sanok stunned him. He followed that with nerve-pinching the guard he had in a choke hold. He dragged the bodies of the three aliens into the cell, along with their weapons, though he grabbed one for Kevras. He moved back to the cots. "Mister Kevras, we can escape now, but time is short. We must leave now." There were mostly empty corridors, but there had also been doors. Cautiously trying a few, they had found storage rooms, crew quarters, and several labs, all deserted. Jo was beginning to feel some frustration. She had come to help, but so far, she hadn't done anything that helped. Moving in a corridor that led inwardly on the station, they came to a small door. As they moved in front of it, it slid open with a whoosh of air. Startled, Jo let out a small yip. It was a turbolift. Jo looked at James, who had an expression of mirth on his face. "An invitation?" James shrugged. "Why not?" The two stepped inside and the door shut. There was a panel on the wall with buttons, and some sort of script next to each. Jo reached out and pressed one. The lift began moving upwards. "Here we go, Mister James." "Stand to the side, so that when the door opens, you're covered," said James. Jo moved to the right and James went to the left. When the lift stopped, the door slid open. Listening intently, all Jo could hear was the background humming of the station. "Wait here," said James. With his phaser rifle ready, he moved out, looking both ways, then heading off to the right. Jo held her hand on the side of the door to keep it from closing. While doing so, she listened for anything. She realized she was holding her breath. "Psst. Ambassador. Come on." Jo peaked out and saw James about thirty meters down the corridor. Stepping out of the lift, she quickly joined him. He was standing at an intersection. "I saw someone enter that door there," said James in a whisper. He pointed down the corridor moving to the left. "Someone?" said Jo, her curiosity piqued. "He was short, about your height, and wearing purple." He gave Jo a full description. "Was he armed?" "No." Jo thought for a moment. She was on the mission to help. Maybe this was the chance she was looking for. "God watches over babies, puppies, and adventurous ambassadors," said Jo. She began moving towards the door. Behind her, she heard James sigh. There wasn't anything melodramatic with the whole situations. She couldn't see what's so special about the moments with close encounters with death to Klingons or others who enjoyed it for that sake alone. She couldn't hear the trumpets in the wind nor she could hear the commemoration... she just couldn't see herself dying today. It was a good feeling. Andersen received a gift from her mother, she just had a knack to feel what would happen. This wasn't any telepathy, nor was it any kind of technology. It was just a part of the logical subconsciousness that Ailyn knew how to activate, and she also knew she had to listen to it. It was a generally mind-opening experience when all you learned thus far in your life is being judged by your foe. A weaker position by nature, however, the experience meant more then any innate ability in situations like those. Those that couldn't use their upper hand and the sleight of hand, found themselves on shaky grounds and with an inability to use the situation to meet their goals. It was all simple logic to Ailyn. Simply put, they had nothing to bargain with, their foes thought they have the upper hand, but they had the sleight of hand, and just a lil' dose of luck. It was always a thing about balance how far one would fall to trickery to achieve ones goals. After all, not all goals justify the means. And then some means are more horrible then the goals they are used to achieve. Falling out of balance would mean passing away one's possibilities at one hand or living just for the ending goals on the other. Neither appealing specifically to Ailyn. That was the prime logic she would always use. Carefully weighting if the ride would counterbalance the destination. It wasn't always easy. Sometimes, a person had to do hard decision, and the only thing it could be done is swear to oneself it would never happy again. But it usually would. Doctors were supposed to help the patients. They were supposed to hold true their oath and help any kind of lifeform in need. But sometimes, just sometimes, the greater good was to close the eyes and forget you are the doctor. Sometimes, as Vulcans would put it, the needs of the many outweights the needs of the few. What are few lives compared to the whole planet? Just a statistic one would say - But this thinking alone, is the thin line between a true doctor and a monster. Sometimes, one would be so intertwined in it's work, thinking of all the great possibilities it would bring, that it would forget all that makes a doctor... and a human being. And sometimes, as the fate would have it, that one would have to pay the price for it's work. But today was not that day. Andersen crouched grabbing a hypo from her bag and taking two fillings in her other hand. "This will help fool the patrol into thinking I've been shot in my leg" she coldly explained, as if she was talking about something mechanical. Taking one filling, and putting it inside the hypospray, she injected that into her left leg. She then took the second fill and administered it in the same spot in the leg. A rush of a known feeling of warmth and power from the legs to her head encompassed her. She really needed this boost. The mission was more then just herself, she had to do the good thing this time. And there were no margin for errors. Giving a quick glance to the faces of others, she moved her hand on her leg, and trying moving her with her hand. It was hard, and the movement was realistic as if she was in a high pain. Except of course, Ailyn didn't feel a thing. Grabbing a piece of tissue from her bag, she started removing her make up, in an amateurish manner. Several seconds later, and she really looked as if she was beaten by someone. ~Every little bit helps.~ she told herself. She again got an unusual sense of self confidence and her movements seemed to be twice as precise and a little bit faster then before as well. Turning towards Jackson, she asked "Are we ready?" and (Reply: Jackson) "Alright. Lt. Commander Matrix, how far will you be behind me?" she asked while looking directly at Matrix. (Reply: Matrix) "I see. I'll keep that in mind." she quickly explained and smiled. Nodding her head last time, she started walking as fast as she could deeper down the corridor the earlier patrol went by. She could see others waiting a bit behind her and talking something, but she couldn't hear what was it about. She walked about a minute when she switched the corridors, taking the one leading further to the inside of the station. Again, she could see the same pattern. The longer she was walking, the louder hum she could hear around her. After several minutes of walking, her heartbeating was getting faster and her eyes started itching. She knew she wasn't supposed to stay awake this long, but there was nothing she could do about that now. She tried not paying attention to it and focusing on the mission. The station really felt like a maze. It was suprisingly large from the inside. Also, judging by a few of the, what she thought were, power control regulation consoles several hundred feet apart, the station was in a bad shape. The more she would walk, the more she could see the station seemed like no one took care of it for a very long time. ~Perhaps they have a shortage of men.~ she quickly came to idea. ~Perhaps they're abducting other races to work for them as slaves.~ she took another logical assumption. It didn't help feeling both assumptions were wrong seeing as she hasn't really saw any kind of slave so far - or anyone, for that matter. The familiar arch above on the ceiling and the familiar dimmed lights all seemed the same and Andersen thought she was getting either hypnotized or walking in circles until she heard loud walking some hundred feet away. ~This is it, Ailyn.~ she said to herself and clenched her teeth. Standing behind the corner, she quickly moved her head to see what's on the other side, when she saw six armed but lightly armored men walking - and she crossed her eyes with theirs. They saw her. In a very second, the flurry of red looking bolts flew close to her head and she almost screamed, pulling her head behind the corner, gathering the strength she had - she put her left hand on her left leg to help herself move faster, and started running, as fast as she could - to outside of the corner, into the corridor that was on the other side. Again, several dozen blood red energy bolts flew around her, but none managed to hit her. She could hear the loud footsteps, gaining on her position. They were running towards her. She tried running to the best of her abilities, but the leg was slowing her down. She looked back, seeing they emerged from the corner, looking right at her direction and bearing their energy guns towards her. First barrage flew over her head, with a selection of few bolts at her right side - almost hitting her elbow. Second burst came only a few seconds later, and again it seemed all the bolts missing all around Ailyn. She thought they must be really bad shooters by now. Sadly, storm of hits flew towards Ailyn the third time, with the two hitting her legs. She dropped to the floor, trying to catch herself with her arms. Falling down so hard, she was sure she injured her right wrist. But she didn't have enough time to check for it. Seconds later, she could see shadows over herself. Pushing herself with her left arm to the best of her abilities, she rolled around, to face her pursuers, but wasn't able to see anything. She felt a strong hit to her head with something blunt. And she lost consciousness. (posted by Lani) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 2102) Tho'var saw the four guards coming. They were going to a second interrogation session. This was maybe the opportunity to know more. Perhaps he could find what the mind probe was trying to find in his brain of his. He knew Sanok had other idea, but he really had no idea what he had in mind. Moreover, he barely passed the fighting class for a reason, he wasn't much of a fighter. What a surprise when Sanok actually neutralized two guards. Quickly, Sanok took his phaser and aimed at the two other guards. In a blink of a instant, he could see death coming. Why was there that people preferred to die in vain rather than remain in their cell. What good would it do to try to do some heroic gesture just to be killed at the door of his cell. The surprise come again when, opening his eyes, he realized that the two other guards were down as well. Was it really better? How could killing become so easy for so many different people? Life was very meaningful. It was everything. Still, it was surprising how much people insisted to shorten it. If you wanted to survive, rather that point a gun at someone who also has a gun because he expected you to have one, why don't you just all throw down your gun and live in peace? That was a quite more efficient way to be safe. "For your sake," said Sanok, "I hope you have a language translator with you." So there were alive. At least... that was a good news. "Do you have a language translator? This is your last chance." repeated Sanok. Tho'var looked at the scene without making much case of it. What Sanok had in mind, he couldn't tell. But an escape attempt was not the kind of action where you could expect the enemy will respond with candies and niceties. He was still undecided. The feeling was strong that whatever he decided to do here would mark the next years to come. Would he remain the man of violence he had been.... that same question keep coming to his mind. When Sanok gave him a weapon, he fixed it for a very long time, undecided if he was going to throw it on the floor or if he was going to keep it. There would be no lying to himself. He knew perfectly that if he kept the weapon, it wouldn't be ''just in case'. He had to commit now. If he brought, it would be to use it. He would fully committed in such behavior. "Mister Kevras, we can escape now, but time is short. We must leave now." added Sanok. Tho'var didn't even looked at him, He was rather fixed on the guards on the floor, with the gun in his hand, ready to be thrown on the floor....or to be kept.... ------- ~ Shorel, his mother, was looking at him. They were at home on Andor. Around him, he could feel the presence of all of his kind. She was smiling. She presented him with a medallion made of gold, silver, bronze, emerald, etc. It was the symbol of peace. The symbol his culture took so dear. Tho'var looked around to get a good impression of the surrounding. It was so nice, so inspiring, so peaceful. He took the symbol her mother offered him. He looked at it closely, not missing to inspect any millimeter of the object. But suddenly, it started to fade. It was slipping through its fingers, as if it was phasing out. He did his best to grab it and keep it from vanishing, but he was slowly fading away. The surrounding was disappearing as well. His mother, his home, his families, and friends. It was all disappearing. Before he knew it, the room was now empty, with nothing left. Until he saw on the floor a shattered glass. ~ The pain was unbearable. His inside wanted to explode. He wanted to vomit such it was painful. The pain pressed on his stomach. His heart was beating fast. He was about to die...............die of shame.....die of doubts... As he walked to follow Sanok, a weapon still in his hand, he knew what he just did. Neither could he look back at what he had left behind, nor could he look forward at whom he could see in the mirror. He couldn't bare either. He was no better.....that was the shame....and perhaps he would never forgive himself for that. That was the cruel part....he would have to figure out how he would live with it. (Reply no one) (Posted by Nick) ----- (Alien Station, Ambassador Joanne Turner, Day 1, 2103) "You open the door and I'll go in first," said James. "Stay behind me and don't get in the way." Jo nodded. She had been eager to go into the room to see who and what was there, but now that they were about to do just that, she began to wonder if they were doing the right thing. Though the corridors of the station had been deserted, there could have been hundreds of the aliens on the other side of the door. James had his phaser rifle ready, but before he gave the signal for Jo to open the door, he grabbed a hand phaser from his belt and held it out for her. "I need you to watch my back." Jo looked at the weapon, then at James. "Do you know how to use it?" "Yes." It had been many years since she had fired a phaser, but Jo knew how to handle one. "It's set on stun. If you need to use it, please don't hit me." Jo smirked and took the hand phaser. James' joke made her feel less nervous. "Okay, Ambassador, open the door." Jo hit the switch on the wall and the door slid open. James rushed in and Jo was right behind him. They were standing on a metal catwalk above a large room that went down at least five levels into the station. The catwalk went completely around the room, with metal steps leading downward at even intervals. The room was filled with machines similar to what would be in an engine room of a starship. There were work stations, desks with chairs, computer consoles, lab equipment, and five of the aliens that Jo could see. The area hummed and vibrated slightly from the noise of the machines. "Looks like some sort of control room," said Jo in a hushed tone, though with the ambient noise, it was unlikely anyone else could hear her. James nodded, though he was concentrating more on security, than on the function of the room. "What do we do now?" said Jo. "Unless we're planning on capturing the room, we leave quietly," said James. Jo nodded and turned to leave, but she let out a cry of surprise and fear as a red beam slammed into the wall inches from her head. James grabbed Jo by her shirt and basically dragged her across the metal walkway. They were taking fire from below, and there was no cover where they were. James had found a large beam that was part of the structure supporting the catwalk. It wasn't a lot of cover, but it at least gave them some protection. Sparks were flying off the metal as weapons fire struck. Jo tried to make herself as small a target as possible. While trying to control her fear, Jo realized this was similar to what happened on Beta Aquillia IV when the Veil launched their coup. Not wanting to be useless, or leave James to fight alone, Jo opened her eyes and scanned the area below. Two of the aliens were firing at them, while the other three were advancing on their position. If they didn't get out of this soon, they'd be surrounded. Jo very carefully aimed the phaser James had given her and fired.... *reply none) (posted by Bob B.) ---------- (Alien Station - Lt Tom Jackson - 2O/COPS Day 1 2104) Tom watched Ailyn get herself ready. He was impressed with her attention to detail. She looked like she'd been through the grinder. This was the effect Jackson was looking for . She turned to Tom and the others and asked "Are we ready?. Tom nodded and let her get a few meters away from them before saying "Lets go ". They moved after Ailyn and watched her closely. Each step took them closer to confrontation with the other side . Tom's heart was beating o loud he thought the enemy would hear it. Time crawled. These soldiers were either stupid or few in number. He decided that it was the latter of the possibilities. He stopped short as the Doc paused and made another turn. The humming grew louder. Tom watched Ailyn stop. The sounds if foot steps was being heard above the machine hums. Tom whispered "halt". Then the world erupted into weapons fire. He watched covertly as Ailyn was finally hit and went down. Tom almost rushed n by held back as she tried to work her way out of the spot she was now in. The aliens grabbed her and drug her off. Tom and the others followed close as they could without revealing themselves. They took the Doc into a room with a single chair. That was all Tom saw before the door slammed shut. Tom turned to Steve Matrix and asked "Can you get us in their ASAP?" (Reply: Steve) Tom swiveled and asked Heath to cover their six position. Tom didn't want to get caught on a crossfire. "Steve it's up to you now. Countdown from three when you are ready. Everyone shoot anything you DO NOT recognize. Any last minute questions?" Tom added. (Reply: Any on team) (Posts by: Bill W.) ----- (Alien Station - LCDR Steven Matrix -CEO Day 1 2107) Matrix watched the doctor fell in a round of phaser fire. He rushed forward only to see the aliens whisk the doctor away. Matrix felt an arm hold him back from advancing further. He glanced to his left realizing they didn't dare give away their cover. Tom turned to Steve Matrix and asked "Can you get us in their ASAP?" "Absolutely!" replied Matrix as he advanced to the door. As he moved he pulled out two dime sized explosive and placed them on either side of the door and backed away. The two explosives blinked bright green indicated they were armed. Matrix moved back to the nearest cover and looked over to Tom. "Steve it's up to you now. Countdown from three when you are ready. Everyone shoot anything you DO NOT recognize. Any last minute questions?" Tom added. He gave a thumbs up and looked around at the team members. He motioned to take cover. ~Three-two-one.~ He pressed the remote trigger. The room filled with the explosive percussion from the cyclotrimethylene dicotitramine mixture. In less than a full second the doors were vaporized leaving only the frame and entrance into the room. Matrix could barely make out the occupants in the other room. The smoke cleared quickly and he moved up to enter with phaser drawn. (Reply Tom, any) (Posted by Steve) ----- (Alien Station, FO/CSec Lieutenant Commander Sanok, Day 1, 2108) After escaping from their cell, Sanok and Kevras were cautiously moving through corridors that were surprisingly empty. All in all, it was better for them, as Kevras still wasn't back to full strength. There was also the question of whether he would fight or not, if it came to that. As Sanok led the way, not really knowing why he chose which corridors to take, neither man spoke. It simply made no sense for there to be so few of their captors manning such a large station. Oh, Sanok could think of logical explanations, but none of them really made sense based on what the aliens had done so far. Setting aside those thoughts for another time, Sanok went back to thinking about his time in the mind probe chair. He had seem images that he thought came from the beings that were operating the probe; some sort of bleed over affect. Since they had been able to probe at least part of Sanok's mind, maybe he had been able to detect some of their thoughts as well. If only he could better focus on them. Sanok stopped, giving Kevras the hand signal to do the same. He could hear something just around a corner that was ahead. "Be alert, Mister Kevras." Sanok resumed moving forward. When he reached the corner, he listened carefully. It sounded like weapons fire, though it wasn't in an open corridor. Looking quickly around the corner, Sanok could see an open door. The sounds were coming from there. Motioning to Kevras, Sanok moved quickly to the door. Crouching low, he looked inside and saw a huge engine room. Red energy beams were firing upwards at a single point. Looking more closely, Sanok could see Ambassador Turner and one of his men from security, though he couldn't see his face. Assessing the situation as quickly as he could, Sanok counted at least four enemies below. Turner and the security man had taken cover behind one of the large support beams holding up a catwalk. "I'm heading in. Cover us from here." Sanok didn't know if Kevras would, but he had to help the others, regardless of what the engineer would do. It hurted and she could feel it was stickied with her blood. She was sitting on an metallic chair, her hands were fastened on the sides of the chair. She couldn't feel either of her legs, she knew nothing if they were tied somehow as well. In front of her was an silhuette, she could only see rough form. There was a blind light right under it's head and she couldn't really see anything other then just shapes. (Reply: Alien) "Urmm..." she tried talking. It was hard, she felt like she was hit by a shuttle. "I... I'm Ensign Callista... Callista Conner... USS Tesla." she explained to the best of her abilities. (Reply: Alien) "I... I managed to get away... you can't keep us forever..." she said shaking. (Reply: Alien) It didn't seem the figure in front of her was believing her at all. She opened her mouths to try to say something more believable, when the figure stopped her. (Reply: Alien) It would seem they took pictures of all the members of USS Tesla during their interrogation. And it seemed he knew she wasn't anyone from the Tesla. At the moment, she thought she was alive because whoever was she was talking with now, was puzzled with her, curious. She wouldn't let him go dissatisfied with his catch, she knew that it could mean she could end up dead. She looked down, she was still wearing the same uniform. She couldn't move her head down enough to see if the little module is still in her shirt, but the fact she was still wearing same clothes was an good news to her. "I.. I don't really know what you're talking about." she explained, trying to look like she's telling the truth. (Reply: Alien) He hit her right leg with his arm, squeezing the part that got a direct hit in the corridor earlier. Ailyn felt sharp, strong and very present pain. The more he would press, the stronger she felt it. She screamed of pain and the figure seemed liking the situation. (Reply: Alien) Showing a small monitor, she could see a picture of Sanok tied to a chair. It would seem alien knew she was of the same ship as Sanok is. Threatening to hurt Sanok that was lying on the chair, and was unable to do anything - she couldn't let that happen. She couldn't know if what she is seeing is real or not, but it seemed real enough to her. Finally, deciding to let go with a little bit of information as possible and to keep the man in front of her guessing, she said "I.. Came on board alone. I used an... procedure known as... tachyon drift... and..." she took a pause here, eyeing the silhuette in front of her. She could see it didn't seem the man knew she was talking about. "... and I tried finding out why did you attack us. We are... we are peaceful explorers. We mean no harm..." but she couldn't finish her sentence (Reply: Alien) "What do you mean more like them two? Every ship has a cadre... of.... of higher ranking officers and..." again she couldn't finish her sentence, the figure again pressed on her leg. He clearly was not amused with the things he was being said. (Reply: Alien) "Alright... I know what you mean..." she yelled. It would seem the figure started writing something on his console, and on the monitor, Ailyn could barely see, she caught a glance of guards walking towards the area that, as far as she could tell from her chair, looked a lot like Starfleet brig. NRPG: Sanok/Thovras, chance for you guys to go out now. :) RPG: It would seem the man in front of her decided to go along with the interrogation and turned his consoled and monitors off. ~If only Matrix and Jackson could see what I'm seeing, they would know where to look for...~ she thought to herself. (Reply: Alien) Even thought he seemed a little bit slower on thinking, her nemesis was clearly versed in interrogation. If she had to guess, he was most likely some kind of an officer... or the equivalent. Maybe he was an doctor, just like her? She could almost ask herself what went wrong. Or maybe he was just an officer overseeing the brig. Regardless, it didn't mattered so much now. He turned his full focus to Ailyn now. "Please... can we talk without this... I promise... I wouldn't escape." she said, trying to see if he would do something like that. Of course she would try to escape. But he didn't need to know that. He started prepairing some kind of device. If she had to guess, she would say it is most likely some kind of link, a bridge, a way to be able to connect the brain to the machine. She wasn't going to let him put that thing on her head. "Listen to me..." she started, talking a lot better now "We can still talk about this. We mean you no harm. I am just a doctor. I help people. I help everyone" she started explaining herself. (Reply: Alien) But finally this time, he couldn't end his sentence. It would seem the cavalry arrived. The doors behind Ailyn blew, several phaser shots, the lightning from those almost blinding her sensitive eye flew across the room hitting the man infront. He stumbled on the floor in a quick fashion. (Reply: Any) "Am I glad to see you..." she started (Reply: Any) "I'll be fine... turn on that monitor there..." she said pointing to the one on the right "I know where are our two officers are." she explained, trying hard to leave the chair after she was unbuckled. She forgot saying sirs, but she was sure they understood why all too well. (Reply: Any) (Posted by: Lani) ----- (Chikola Station, Chal Maluris, Day 1, 2121) One of the patrols had captured an alien from the new group of races. She had been struck by weapons fire and was unconscious. Strapping her into an interrogation chair, Maluris had ordered one guard to stay with him, and had sent the rest back to patrol. He had been studying the data from the mind probes of the two aliens they had taken from the second ship. So far, he had not gained any useful information. "The alien is awake," said the guard. Maluris glanced at the alien. He allowed the video of the mind probe of the tall alien with pointed ears, to continue running. He switched on the translator box, placing a small receiver into his ear. "I... I'm Ensign Callista... Callista Conner... USS Tesla," said the alien. Maluris chuckled inwardly. Of course she wasn't. Though his people had yet to acquire the names of all the crew from the first ship, this one had not been from that crew. She was from one of the two small ships that had come for their clan mates. These aliens must not be so smart, if they thought any Hikani would be deceived by such an obvious ruse. "I... I managed to get away... You can't keep us forever..." ~Not forever,~ thought Maluris, ~but for quite a long time.~ Maluris spoke in his language and the translator box spoke the language of the aliens in a mechanical tone. "You are not from the Tesla, but from another vessel." "I.. I don't really know what you're talking about," said the alien. Maluris grabbed the alien's wounded leg and squeezed until she cried out in pain. "Lying is pointless." Maluris stepped aside and allowed the alien to see the pointed-eared one in the mind probe chair. "We have very effective ways to learn what we want to know." "I... came on board alone," said the alien. "I used an... procedure known as... tachyon drift... and..." She paused. "And I tried finding out why did you attack us? We are... we are peaceful explorers. We mean no harm..." Maluris was becoming impatient. How stupid did she think he was? "Are there more of you like the one on the screen and the other with him?" said Maluris. "What do you mean, more like them two? Every ship has a cadre... of.... of higher ranking officers and..." Maluris squeezed the alien's leg. "Are there others like the first two? Mind rippers!" Maluris spat out the term. He squeezed her leg very hard. "All right. I know what you mean!" The alien yelled. Maluris turned away from this wretched creature; he could no longer look at her. How could anyone associate as allies, with the evil mind rippers? It just made no sense. He tapped a message on his console and sent it to the First Pregus. When his anger subsided, Maluris faced the alien again. "I have informed my leader that you are here. Soon, you will be interrogated like the other one." He pointed at the pointy-eared one on the screen. "Please... can we talk without this? I promise... I wouldn't escape." All Maluris could do was shake his head. He was looking forward to ripping into this one's mind. He began preparing. "Listen to me," said the alien. "We can still talk about this. We mean you no harm. I am just a doctor. I help people. I help everyone." Maluris removed the receiver from his ear and turned off the translator box. He had no desire to hear anything more from this creature. A few moments passed, and the door to the lab burst open. Three more of the aliens rushed inside, their beam weapons firing. The guard was hit almost immediately. Looking frantically for his weapon, Maluris felt like a large rock struck him, and everything went black. The others rushed in a split second after him and leveled the rest if the aliens. Tom stood over his target. His hand wavered over the weapon's settings. He struggled with a desire to kill. Tom calmed down and took several breaths. He thanked God the others entered when he did. Jackson returned to normal. He check the doctor over quickly. He tried to smile and exude confidence. "Ailyn, are you ok? It's Tom" he said softly. (Reply: Doc) Tom urned to Steve and clapped his pal on his shoulder and " well done" (Reply: Matrix) The militarist in him took over. His chief interrogator had informed him that a patrol had captured a female from the rescue team sent by the new group of races. She was trying to disguise her identity by claiming to have been a crew from the first ship, a ruse that did not fool Maluris. Olarid was calling to give instructions, but Maluris wasn't responding. "First Pregus. We concentrated internal scans on section 1137, near Chal Maluris' lab, and we detected more crew from the new race group." "Send all available patrols to section 1137. I want those people captured!" "As you order, First Pregus." Olarid was becoming angry. He was given the honor to lead this phase of the Holy Crusade for Freedom, and he was not going to allow these mind-ripper lovers to stop him. They were too close to starting the next phase. In fact, he had already received word that the fleet was on its way. There was no way this small band of sinktah raiding their station would prevent the victory the Hikani deserved. (reply none) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Alien Station - Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen ACMO Day 1 - 2128) Ailyn could see Tom Jackson got inside and how he stood over the alien on the floor. She could see the man was contemplating something in his thoughts, but she could not see what. It took him several seconds to calm down. Started checking Ailyn he asked "Ailyn, are you ok? It's Tom" he said softly. Ailyn was broken. Her right leg was sending excruciating omnipresent pain to her brain and her eye felt more like an phaser burn. Despite being conscious of the pain, and aside of it, she was technically okay. Her biggest gripe right now was the fact if she'd walk with the rest, she'd slow them down. What she really needed right now was a little kick from some painkiller and something to prevent her to feel so conscious of her pain. Even the bones on her right leg hurt her, and that wasn't a good sign. Her right wrist was also damaged because she couldn't really move it. "Never been better, sir." she said raising her head proudly up and looking at Jackson to the best of her abilities. "I'm glad you came when you did." she continued, looking at all of the three gentlemen that were inside the room. She then took a glance at the alien. Finally not blinded by the lights she could see how it looked like. Luckily, for now, he was on the floor, unconscious, and perhaps for the better. Andersen could really have a nice little talk with him - she was sure she could teach him a few interrogation techniques - good thing he was laying down with his face on the floor - good thing for him. Tom Jackson started flying out orders, and Ailyn checked the local console. She knew how to change cameras because she saw the alien doing it, she wanted to check what's in store for them. It would seem the station has an obvious lack of crew complement, she only saw a dozen patrols and no obvious force that would pose a threat to the four Starfleet officers. However, she was also sure that whoever sent this alien to interrogate her, would look for an reply back, and finding out there is no, would send reinforcements to this place. She knew that they should start moving soon otherwise will be caught in crossfire. The room had two doors, and Andersen saw how relatively easy it would be to attack on both sides and flank them. She was sure Jackson saw it as well, because he ordered Matrix to try to contact Maddox and Turner as an reinforcements. She didn't know if they should go for their two missing officers first, seeing as they knew where they are at the moment, or keep on checking the consoles in hope they would find out where USS Tesla crew is as well. The second one seemed the choice Jackson would make to Andersen, but she was just guessing. If she would be true, however, that would mean they need more time, perhaps a luxury they would have no more, if their attack was registered. She fired up the typing. Not thinking about the pain and concentrating on something else really brought Ailyn up, her mood jumped and she looked completely in her work yet again, despite limping and trying hard to see things with only one eye. By now he had drilled a hole into the inner walls of the station. This allowed him to scan further and discover why they hadn't been able to scan up to this point. Now thanks to the newly drilled hole, Andrew had access to a cross section of the material and enough time to make rudimentary analysis. The outer hull, struts and other support structures, and a thin layer inside the corridor paneling all contained, in differing amounts, a crystallized metal. The metal had refractive and reflective properties, which explained the initial inability of standard sensors to penetrate. He almost got distracted by the opportunity to study the new crystal alloy. Maddox's next step was an attempt to access or at least assess the alien version of an optical data network. ~Follow the electrons.~ A quick scan let Andrew know that dozens of different streams of electrons flowed behind each panel. He entered a series of rapid-fire commands and made contact with the station computer. First it was just a series of binary code then the code increased in complexity, prime numbers then eventually mathematical constants like pi. ~No intrusion counter-measures? This is by far the friendliest, or most niave system I've ever contacted. ~ Andrew had always found that the computers of a race were very indicative of the race itself. The computer he was now communicating with was not built by a race that could forcibly take individuals and even think about experimenting or torturing them let alone do it. Something wasn't right. Now the tricorder in Andrew's hand was displaying the station computer's command prompt. He had access. What lay ahead could be several months of hard study and procedure just to learn the associated command prompts. Luckily his learning curve was short and climbed very steeply. He was able to set up a communication relay through the station's communications, and burying it in maintenance and normal operations computer traffic. ~Time to try it out.~ "Lieutenant Jackson, this is Ensign Maddox, communications check." (Reply Jackson) "I was able to access their computers. I have instructed them to act as a repeater for our com-traffic between levels." He reported. (Reply Jackson) "I instructed a rotating algorithm that piggy backs on existing non-critical communications traffic, that should delay for some hours anyone actively looking for us, attempting to isolate our transmissions or our locations using our transmissions." He said. (Reply Jackson) "Sir the station is only set up to retransmit. So if we transmit on a secure channel, it will double or triple the time it will take for it to be compromised. " He said. (Reply Jackson) "Triple if the race is similar in development to say the Pakleds, double if they are more like the Romulans or Binars in development. Secondly sir, I don't think the station was built by those running it." He explained. (Reply Jackson) "Once contacted the computer was so open it was almost accommodating, and there were no intruder alarms or countermeasures. Definitely not a computer built by those that would steal and torture another sentient race." Andrew said. He was surprised by the force of the explosion and worried he had brought harm to Ailyn or worse. Fear, dread then anger rushed over him as the smoke cleared the room. He was ready for a confrontation, eager in fact. Matrix noted Jackson standing nearby. He hadn't noticed him entering the room then he noticed Aliyn...she seemed okay, but he wasn't sure. Tom placed a hand on Matrix's shoulder and " well done" Matrix didn't smile, but acknowledged the compliment still worried about Aiyln. " Steve - secure this this thing " ordered Jackson. "With pleasure." Replied Matrix as he pointed his phaser to the alien on the floor. The humanoid creature was obviously hurt or stunned and was moving slightly. Matrix adjusted his phaser to heavy stun and rolled the prisoner over face down. With great apprehension and caution, Matrix placed holstered his phaser and pulled a pair of field restraints from his pack. Within a few moments he had shackled the aliens hands behind his back and secured the restraints to his left ankle. The trimulite material had an excellent tensile strength and was capable of resisting a great deal of force. Matrix moved the alien into a sitting position and drug him toward the nearest wall in a sitting position. Matrix again unsheathed his phaser and looked over at Tom and the others giving a thumbs up. Both certainly expected to see a lot of patrol or guards, but saw no one. It started to make sense. Considering the size of the station, it was very likely the aliens did not had the men to run it at full efficiency. The guards he had seen were different people from one moment to another. There were at least a dozen people, certainly more. But he would be surprised if they were more than 100. During all the time they have walked, none talked. Tho'var was unsure if it was because Sanok wanted to make sure they would not be heard or if it wasn't for another reason. Since they have been made captive, Tho'var couldn't deny that Sanok and him didn't had good chemistry. They seemed to have very different attitude...and soon, this difference had became a long silence. He didn't mind that much the silence, but it was never easy to apprehend your superior were not really satisfied with your doing. Still, he was who he was. Aenar were certainly not reputed for talking...and if Sanok had hoped to have someone more willing to fight, an Aenar engineer were far from that description. Something else caught his attention. He could felt something not far from there location. Every other time, the aliens have had something to block any telepathic communication, so it was now surprising he could felt someone presence. But considering they were walking away from the interrogation room, it was also possible that they were going to meet scientist or engineer who were not provided with the same telepathic blocking. In order to concentrate, Tho'var started to walk slowly. Sanok did not slowed...not until he reached the corner. "Be alert, Mister Kevras." finally said Sanok. Tho'var nodded, but in truth, he already knew. He could also hear...hear the phaser fire. ~Our rescue team....our rescue team is being fired upon~ Tho'var thought. Before he realized it, Sanok had already moved closer to the fight. Tho'var followed him. The time had come. He knew that if he was to take the weapon, it was because he would be decided to use it. Now, he knew he was going to use it. Tho'var preferred not to even think about it. There was nothing he could be proud of. But from where he was standing now, their was not turning back. That was the Starfleet way, and he was in Starfleet, so until he pulled away his uniform, he had to do what it was required him to do. "Cover us from here." added Sanok. The comment surprised Tho'var. Apparently, he did not trusted him with anything related to weapon firing. He preferred to have him behind....despite Sanok knew quite well the advantage of surprise two men could have compare to just one. ~He didn't get it~ Tho'var thought. But that was understandable. How could he understand someone reaction and skill in a situation when all he had as reference was a summary of his background. No background could describe his life and experience with enough accuracy to understand someone. Rather than remaining behind, Tho'var followed Sanok, while also making sure no one followed them. Looking at where Sanok was aiming, Tho'var aimed at the other guard and shot. A precise enough shot that stunned the guard. Then, for a brief second, he sensed his surrounding, making sure no one were coming from behind, and then aimed at the fourth guard. He turned to the men assigned to him and said "check your equipment. Be alert. Screw this up and we all may end up in the mind sifter". He and one or two of the others were soon on their way. Zol moved them slowly - he knew they were the inky true professional soldiers on the station. They moved cautiously much to the disgust of a younger soldier who grumped a bit too loudly . Zol walked to the soldier and jabbed him in stomach with his energy rifle. Standing over the fallen soldier he hissed quietly " speak again and I will incinerate your worthless carcass. Do you understand?" The young man, looking at the business end of a nasty weapon, nodded weakly he understood all to well. They moved nearer to area where the mind sifter device was located. Something didn't feel right to Zol. He activated a channel to the mind sifter room. "Come in - this Is Zol Anar". Zol waited and tried a second time. Again no reply wad heard. His senses were screaming TROUBLE! He turned to his team and ordered "half of you head to the south entrance to the mind sifter - the rest with me - wait for my signal then MOVE". The teams were in place. He counted slowly and said "now". Fearing she and James had been outflanked somehow, perhaps by reinforcements, she wiggled on the metal catwalk, changing her facing so she could defend against that direction. To her surprise, shock would have been a better word, she saw Lieutenant Commander Sanok and Lieutenant Kevras. She blinked twice in disbelief. The rescue team had been sent to bring them home, but the captured were saving the rescue team. Jo wiggled back to face her original direction and fired her weapon. The battle had been on for several minutes, and she had yet to hit anyone, but she still had some affect. She was certainly trying to be as small a target as possible, so the aliens were sure to be doing the same. After a little more time, the firing stopped and the room was quiet. "Is everyone all right?" It was Sanok. "Yes, sir," said James. "We're glad to see both of you. Have you seen anyone else?" "We have not," said Sanok. "Kevras, you and James check on the aliens below and make sure we immobilized all of them. Also, Mister Kevras, see if you can tell what type of control center this is." After James and Kevras went down the steps, Sanok addressed Jo. "I must say, Ambassador, I did not expect to see you here." "I insisted on coming," said Jo. "I haven't done much the last couple of weeks, so with a first contact situation at hand, I felt my abilities would be an asset on the mission. Until now, I haven't seen any of the occupants of this station, and you saw there as no diplomacy here." "Who else is on the rescue team? Have you found the Tesla crew?" "Lieutenant Jackson is leading the team." Jo went on to tell the FO everything about the rescue. Sanok didn't seem to like that the team had split into smaller groups, instead of staying together. Before anything else could be said, Jo's comm badge chirped. =^=Ambassador Turner, Petty Officers Allen and James, this is Maddox. I have established communication with the rest of the away team. The Rosenante had come out of the wormhole cloaked, and for the time being, Captain Soma had decided to remain that way. They had initially stayed in place, waiting to see what sort of reaction they'd get from the station. Tactical reported the station was conducting a general scan on a wide field, which indicated they knew something had come through the wormhole. However, there was no specific scan or a weapons lock, so the conclusion was, that the station occupants knew something was there, but could not pinpoint their location. Soma ordered that the station be scanned. There was heavy interference from the energy that was maintaining the wormhole, but they could tell the station didn't have shields up. The station was also heavily armored, but at this close range, the Rosenante was able to get an interior image of just the outer part of it. Soma next ordered that the ship slowly move around the station in an evasive pattern, scanning the exterior. Tactical reported the results. "Captain, we detected thirty energy weapon arrays, but did not find any torpedo launchers. We also found our two runabouts." He tapped his console, which zoomed the station image on the forward view screen. It showed the two ships resting on a pad, next to an exterior hatch. He tapped the console again, and the image returned to its original. Torell watched the captain as he thought about his next move.... (reply any) (posted by Bob B.) ==================== End of Compile
